#259 monkey puzzle hollow
A good sized spherical hollow form in Monkey Puzzle turned and hollowed through a small opening in the end grain. The wood gives a great contrast between the knots and the heartwood. Monkey puzzle is unusual in that all its branches go out at the same level. In this form there are 5 knots spaced radially.
In early 2018 out of the blue I received an email from an English couple living in Manche just to the south of our house in Normandy offering me some wood from the tree they had just cut down in their front garden. The next week we went down to collect it and I was able to gain almost the whole tree. Such a privilege and I have made many other pieces.
